Shelf Hunt is built to need as little of your data as possible. Here is everything, plainly.
There is no sign-up. A random anonymous ID is stored in a cookie on your device so the game can remember your daily progress. It is not linked to your email or verified identity.
Shelf Hunt party games ask you for a short display name so people in your room know who is playing. Shelf Pitch also lets you add an optional eight-word pitch to a product choice. These entries are visible to the other people in that temporary room, so use a nickname and do not enter a full name, email address, phone number, or other private information.
Display names, pitches, room scores, and selections are stored only to run and reconnect the live game. Waiting rooms expire after about two hours, active rooms after about four hours, and completed rooms after about thirty minutes. Expired rooms are automatically deleted from the live database. Temporary records may remain in routine service backups until those backups roll off. Party names and pitch text are not sent to analytics, advertisers, or sponsors.
Daily completion history and the weekly three-day goal are saved locally in this browser for up to 400 days. They do not sync across devices or create a public profile. Shelf Pitch keeps cumulative points and game wins within the temporary room across rematches; these records expire with the room.
The contact form is for adults. If you send a message, we store the name, email address, topic, and message you provide in a private admin inbox so we can handle your request. These contact details are not included in game analytics or shared with sponsors. Contact messages remain in the private inbox for follow-up; you can request deletion through the contact form.
Barcode scanning happens entirely on your device. Camera frames are processed locally to read the barcode digits and are never uploaded, stored, or seen by us. Only the barcode number itself is sent to look up the product.
We use this to run the game, improve puzzles, and report aggregate statistics (like "12,000 scans this month") to potential sponsors. Aggregates never identify individuals.
Same-day Family Replay attempts are counted separately from the official daily hunt. They do not change the public daily average, streaks, or sponsor delivery totals.
If ads are shown, they are served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies as described in Google's policies. Sponsored challenges are always labeled with the sponsor's name.
A sponsored game may unlock an optional coupon, promo code, or retailer offer after completion. We count aggregate reward views, code-copy actions, and outbound offer clicks so the sponsor can understand campaign performance. We do not send the sponsor a player name or individual gameplay history. Shopping links first show a family-safe reminder to ask a grown-up.
After a specific product is revealed, Shelf Hunt may show an optional retailer link. These links are clearly disclosed near the button and do not affect the puzzle. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Purchases through other disclosed retailer links may also be commission eligible.
Shelf Hunt is a family-friendly game. Daily play does not ask for a name or email address. Children should not send contact details through our adult contact form. Party players should use a nickname and keep optional pitches free of personal information. A parent, guardian, or group organizer should supervise younger players and share room links only with people they intend to invite.
Clearing your browser cookies removes your anonymous ID and disconnects past gameplay from your device. It does not end an active party room, which expires automatically on the schedule above. For business or privacy questions, use the contact form.
