Barcode Breaker · HOW WE PLAY
Barcode Breaker: use every green, yellow, and dark digit
Work through four missing digits with a repeatable process instead of random retries.
What the colors tell you
Green confirms the digit and its position. Yellow means that occurrence of the digit belongs elsewhere in the hidden code. Dark means that occurrence is not needed by the answer. Repeated digits are counted: if a guess contains two copies and only one receives useful feedback, do not assume the answer needs both.
Keep the information you have earned
Green positions lock automatically. Concentrate on the unlocked positions and compare every new guess with earlier feedback. Move a yellow digit to a different available position. Avoid spending another guess on a placement you already know is wrong.
Test possibilities systematically
Early guesses can test several different digits. Later guesses should rearrange the digits you have evidence for and introduce new ones only where information is missing. If two positions remain and you know both digits, test one order; the feedback will tell you whether to swap them.
Take care with repeated digits
Four missing digits do not have to be four different numbers. When an otherwise convincing set of guesses still leaves a gap, consider a repeated digit. A dark copy does not erase a green copy of the same number; each tile reports on the available occurrences after exact matches are accounted for.
The barcode is an identifier
The four hidden digits come from a real product barcode. Its bars identify a trade item; they do not directly tell you price, ingredients, flavor, or quality. Shelf Hunt uses a separate catalog to connect identifiers to product information. After you solve, the reveal shows the product associated with the puzzle. There is no attempt limit.
Put it into practice. Every game is free to play in your browser.
